{"id":772698,"date":"2024-04-07T18:35:40","date_gmt":"2024-04-07T16:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.servethecity.paris\/?post_type=mw_event&#038;p=772698"},"modified":"2024-05-16T16:21:11","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T14:21:11","slug":"french-language-culture-exchange-april-11-2024","status":"publish","type":"mw_event","link":"https:\/\/www.servethecity.paris\/fr\/events\/french-language-culture-exchange-april-11-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"French Language &#038; Culture Exchange"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Please install ServeNow to sign up for activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/be\/app\/servenow-volunteering\/id1535019384\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>ServeNow for iPhone<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\/\/\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=app.servenow.www\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>ServeNow for Android<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Each Thursday, our volunteers prepare a workshop focused on a \u2018French Cultural Experience\u2019 not only focused on learning the French language in a traditional manner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The session begins with a 30 minute interactive lesson focused on a theme: e.g., grocery store and food vocabulary, Paris transportation, discussions with police, language needed when seeking medical advice and other subjects relating to music, sports, cooking, French holidays, French law, etc.\u00a0 After the lesson, we divide into small conversation groups of French speaking volunteers and beneficiaries to discuss the theme of the evening.<\/p>\n<p>For the last 30 minutes, STCP provides a simple meal for both our refugee beneficiaries and volunteers. We ask our volunteers to consider bringing food items such as desserts, nuts, fruit, a salad or soft drinks. It is helpful for the volunteers to have at least a basic level of conversational French. The main goal is to connect with our beneficiaries to show a sense of community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To join the STCP Language &#038; Culture Exchange.
