Les gars de ville had an action packed October, with huge wins both on and off the field. First, the team won back to back games to kick off the new season, with games now taking place every Saturday morning to make things easier for the players. The spirits have never been higher!
STCP partners also stepped up in a huge way for the team, first with Disney providing VIP access for players and volunteers to Disneyland Paris and an on-site dinner. The roller-coaster photos say it all! Second, the team partnered with the American Church of Paris for their annual youth Summit. Alongside over 30 teenagers from around Europe and Africa, the team hosted a mixed football tournament, sharing culture, sportsmanship, and a community dinner. A highlight was watching a few of the female strikers score winning goals for their teams, showing our boys a thing or two!
Finally, we are proud to share that more than half of our core players have obtained Autumn « Stagieres », working alongside their studies. The boys secured these opportunities on their own, with their own perseverance and passions, ranging from Bakeries, to Auto mechanic shops, to Electrician and Plumbing companies. We like to think the confidence our boys gain as a part of the team, empowers them to pursue their goals off the field.
Looking ahead to November, we are excited to continue with our season, partner for a fall tournament, and take a cultural visit to the Arab World Institute.
A Day of Magic, Friendship, and Hope at Disneyland Paris ✨
This past Saturday, something truly special happened. Fifty members of Serve the City Paris — including refugees, players from our STCP refugee football team, and five amazing volunteers — spent an unforgettable day at Disneyland Paris, thanks to the incredible generosity of Disney. 🌍💫
For many of our refugee friends, it was their very first time visiting a place like this — a day where worries could fade, replaced by smiles, laughter, and a bit of adrenaline on the thrilling rides! The magic of Disney brought out the child in everyone, breaking down barriers of language, culture, and background. Amid the excitement, something deeper took place: new friendships were formed, memories were made, and a strong sense of belonging grew among people who once arrived here as strangers.
The day was not only about fun and fantasy — it was also a reminder of what humanity looks like when compassion takes the lead. Thanks to a small but successful fundraising effort, we were able to cover meals for all participants, ensuring everyone could simply enjoy the day without worry. 🍽️❤️
We are deeply grateful to Disney for opening their doors and hearts, to our dedicated volunteers who made this possible, and to every person who contributed to making this dream come true.
This day reminded us all that integration isn’t just about programs or policies — it’s about sharing joy, building trust, and creating moments where everyone feels seen and valued.
