Thank you – Fête des Enfants

A few days before the event, I saw a comic on Instagram. In it, a kid asks his mother to buy him a bubble-making machine. The mother rejects the idea since they lack the funds. Her son accepts it and moves on. Later that night, the mother is seen making a bubbles solution and tells her child that although it wasn’t the machine, it was something, making her son leap with joy.

The comic was very touching to me; the kid in this comic understood that they didn’t have money, while many others might not have understood that. They don’t understand the concept of money and they struggle to understand why they can’t have things that other kids have. The question I would ask is: should the kid be able to understand this?

A kid should obtain all basic necessities and I feel it is the responsibility of society to ensure that kids are happy.

And so, on Sunday 26th May, while France celebrated « fête des mères » (Mother’s day), STCP celebrated something else with a stand at an event called « fête des enfants ». At this event, we organized a few activities for kids, which included bubble making, face painting, bracelet making, and drawing. We were really happy to see the kids overjoyed and also received very good feedback from parents and the event organizers.

Yet, there was no better feedback than the kids’ happiness, including a photo I captured of the pure happiness on the face of a little girl as she played with bubbles.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of STCP volunteers – appreciation is duly deserved to all of them. Thank you to all those who came to the event, whether for a few minutes or many hours. Thank you also to people who worked in the background to make the event happen, from thinking about the theme to spending hours at the event.

Thank you to anyone who lent their own stuff for the event, and thank you to the beneficiaries who came after football to just help in whatever they can.

Finally, thank you to Pere, who organized everything and asked me to be a part of it.

On behalf of Pere and myself, I hope that everyone knows that they made a lot of kids happy today. Thank you to all for helping to make this event what it was.

Until next time!

Abhishek 🙂
