Serve the City Language Exchange

Program in 2025!

STCP begins the new year with a unique opportunity to build meaningful cultural connections while helping participants improve their language skills. This year, the Language Exchange Program starts later than usual, but we hope it will be even more impactful for both volunteers and beneficiaries. The language exchange sessions will be held at Impact Café & Coworking in the heart of Paris, offering a welcoming space for refugees, immigrants, and volunteers to practice French or English. French sessions will take place every Wednesday, while English sessions occur on Thursdays, both from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Each session features a brief introduction to a chosen topic led by a volunteer, followed by interactive one-on-one or small group conversations. Topics cover a wide array of cultural and practical themes, such as cuisine, public transportation, holidays, and famous literature, ensuring a rich and engaging learning experience for participants.

In addition to fostering language skills, the program emphasizes community building. After each session, attendees share a meal provided by STCP, with volunteers encouraged to contribute treats or help with cooking. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome, though a B1 level in French is recommended. To ensure a successful experience, new volunteers must attend an online training workshop before participating. These sessions, held monthly, provide insights into working with the refugee community and guidance on fostering empathy and patience. Whether you’re looking to teach, learn, or simply make a difference, the STCP Language Exchange is an inspiring way to connect with others while giving back.
