Les Gars de la Ville: February recap!

What a February it was for the STCP sport family. From attending champions league matches, to winning a champions league of our own, Les Gars de la Ville (LGV) – STCP’s football team supporting refugees – had plenty to celebrate.

Since the team began playing competitively in the FSGT league in 2024, the goal was to always win the league championship. The winter league kicked off in October 2025 running through February 2026. With two games left in league play, LGV entered February needing to win both to top the table – a semi final and final of sorts.

The boys took the first match with full momentum, winning 10 to 2, setting up a final on Valentine’s Day against 1st place team Lokomotiv. On that fateful Saturday morning, nerves were high, winds were howling, and teeth were surely chattering on one of the coldest days of the year. That didn’t keep our proud LGV supporters from turning out with their loudest cheers of support for the team, in record turn out!

The game started shaky with the team down 2 – 0 after 10 minutes. The players kept their nerve, encouraging each other to play their game, that they knew their training would pay off. After equalizing in the second half, the team went down 3 – 2, conceding a penalty with 20 minutes left to play. Following a “super” substitution, the team pressed with full intensity, and within minutes had scored a third, then fourth, then fifth goal unanswered. Buuuuuuttttttt !!!!!  The supporters rejoiced at the final whistle. The players and coaches were in disbelief, did we really come out on top? It was a bit of silence before reality sunk in – we did it, together!

What followed was a bit of a blur before coming down – congratulations to our opponents, team photos, an award ceremony for our incredible players, and topped off with a pizza party to savor what was a half year of decldication paying off. We could not be more proud of the young men, players and coaches, who committed themselves to a common goal.

As a bonus, we gathered over 40 young men and women from 6 associations to watch the Paris FC Women’s team take on Real Madrid in the Champions Leage Quarterfinals. We had a blast on what was a rainy Wednesday evening, cheering full throated to support the team. They fought hard falling 3 to 2 with hope to move on in the 2nd leg in Madrid. We even snuck in a birthday cake and candles for our goalkeeper Mamadou on what was a night to remember.

LGV has a full Spring schedule with tournaments, cup matches and off the field team-building events. Join us as we support these inspiring young men week in, week out.

We are also seeking Partnerships for the 2026-27 season. Please see our newly launched partnerships brochure for opportunities.
