Join us each Thursday to teach and exchange conversation in the language of French! Volunteers and refugees learn French and talk French. The program is designed for all levels of French.
We start with a short 15-20 minute lecture on topic or subject (sports, family, Paris, traveling, vacation, food, etc.) in French, and in some English. Then we break into groups of 2 to 4 and continue discussing the topic or subject in a conversation format in French.
The session lasts 1 hour followed by a potluck dinner prepared by our volunteers and shared with our refugee community. STCP will provide the dinner for the refugees, but we encourage our volunteers to bring items such as bread, cookies, crackers, nuts or fruit.
REQUIREMENTS: As a volunteer, you need to have a conversational level of French to help our group of refugees, but you don’t need be a trained language instructor. We prepare the participants by having a short lecture in the beginning of the course. Then we break into groups to have conversations based on the level of French. We also invite new volunteers who wish to learn French to join us as well, so you can meet our volunteers and our refugee community.
