FOOD DISTRIBUTION TO THE HOMELESS AND REFUGEES IN PARIS

Since 2009, Serve the City Paris has organized food distribution for the homeless and the refugees throughout Paris. Today, our Association now delivers food to over 400 homeless and refugees each week, and we also provide food for integration events, sports activities, and other philanthropic missions throughout Paris.

Today, we have over 2500 volunteers in the city of Paris who have signed up to help with our food distribution program. Most of these volunteers are English speaking ex-patriots, immigrants, and French citizens who speak English.   For most of the refugees in Paris, English is their first language.   Our English speaking community enjoys the ability to communicate directly in English or French with many of these individuals who come from different cultures or countries outside of France.

Our exclusive partner, Prêt a Manger, has supported our organization since the beginning and they continue to provide us with sandwiches, salads, yogurt, croissants, and muffins for our volunteers to deliver to the homeless and refugee camps. We are very grateful for their continued support.

At least 4 days a week, you will find a group of Serve the City Paris volunteers meeting for a café in the morning before heading out across Paris to deliver food to refugees and the less fortunate.  We meet at Caféothèque (52 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville. Paris 75004). Before distributing food, we socialize over a cafe on the outside terrace together. Then we pack the food in our bags and deliver food to the homeless and refugees around Paris. The whole activity takes 2-3 hours maximum.

Volunteers go out in small groups to various areas around Paris (rue St. Honoré, Chatelet, Gare St Lazare, Opera, Porte de la Chapelle, Gare de Lyon, Austerlitz, Republique, St. Germain, Bastille, Nation or République). Or, you can just take the food to the neighborhood where you live and hand out sandwiches there.

If you are interested in participating as a volunteer with Serve the City Paris, attending at least one of our S.A.V.E workshops is mandatory before volunteering (or within 1 month of registering).  A SAVE workshop helps ensure our volunteers are more impactful, and have a more meaningful volunteer experience.

There is a 15 euro donation required to join any S.A.V.E. Workshop.  (All payment donations go towards our humanitarian projects for our refugees and the homeless in Paris).     SAVE Workshops are offered at least 3x per month on Tuesday evenings (and on a variety of topics for volunteers).

Once you register and pay the fee to take a workshop, an email will be sent to you with where to register for our S.A.V.E workshops and STCP volunteer activities.

First, please fill out a volunteer registration form found on our website HERE   Then you can register for a S.A.V.E. Workshop.

If you are interested in becoming a SAVE member, then you can have access to an unlimited number of online interactive SAVE workshops, exclusive SAVE member volunteer activities,  the opportunity to collaborate with other SAVE members on social impact projects, and to receive a Certificate and Testimonial Letter for your time volunteering with SAVE.
