STCP’s New Initiative to Help Young Immigrants: the Find Work program

According to the OECD, 12% of the French population are foreign-born. However, this does not include all the children of migrants who now have French nationality but are still exposed to risks of social exclusion. Many young refugees, young immigrants, and children of immigrant parents in France are unemployed, struggling with the traditional French school system, or encountering integration challenges among the native French residents. They feel unproductive and face depression. Many are living with their parents or in the worst case, find themselves in the streets due to the current economic disparity and cost of living in Paris.

Serve The City Paris launched a “Find Work” program in early 2018 called T.I.E.O. (Trouvez du travail. Intégrez_avec_France, & Être_optimiste). The goal was to help young immigrants and refugees find work in France and Europe. The program was originally taught by volunteers, but we soon realized our corporate partner employees could also play a valuable role in helping young adults in Paris find employment.

Our corporate partner employees, both local and international, can help this group of marginalized adults by utilizing their experience gained from searching for and navigating through obstacles related to finding work in France. Collective and shared ‘knowledge’ at all levels is the critical tool involved in helping these individuals find employment!
