About Shahram
Shahram Ameri has been a part of Serve the City Paris, ever since he came to Paris 2 years ago. He has always been a member of our refugee community after leaving Iran to escape persecution from the authorities who have caused harm to Shahram’s entire family. The moment we met Shahram, we saw that he had a desire to help others. This is not a typical characteristic of a refugee who needs help. Shahram wanted to volunteer and we soon realized how benevolent he is. Each week, Shahram donates his time at least 5 days a week to deliver food to the homeless in the streets, to help other refugees with translation (he speaks fluent English and Farsi), and to help refugees find shelter through the STCP Shelter Program.
Then there is the personality of Shahram. Shahram is a leader among the refugee community and among our volunteers. He is charismatic, always optimistic and he can be an inspiration to other refugees. When the Serve The City Leadership Team saw how Shahram impacted both our refugee community and our volunteers, we immediately invited him to join the Serve The City Leadership Team, as the first refugee to join our team since starting the chapter 9 years ago.

Shahram Ameri est membre de Serve the City Paris, depuis son arrivée à Paris il y a 2 ans. Il a toujours été membre de notre communauté de réfugiés après avoir quitté l’Iran pour échapper à la persécution des autorités, qui ont causé du tort à toute la famille de Shahram. Lorsque nous avons rencontré Shahram, nous avons vu qu’il avait le désir d’aider les autres. Ce n’est pas une caractéristique typique d’un réfugié qui a besoin d’aide. Nous avons réalisé à quel point Shahram est bienveillant.
Chaque semaine, Shahram donne de son temps au moins 5 jours par semaine pour livrer de la nourriture aux sans-abri dans les rues, pour aider d’autres réfugiés avec la traduction (il parle couramment l’anglais et le farsi) et pour aider les réfugiés à trouver un abri grâce au programme STCP Shelter.
Ensuite, il y a la personnalité de Shahram. Shahram est un leader parmi la communauté des réfugiés et parmi nos bénévoles. Il est charismatique, toujours optimiste et il peut être une source d’inspiration pour d’autres réfugiés. L’équipe de direction de Serve The City a remarqué comment Shahram a eu un impact sur notre communauté de réfugiés et sur nos bénévoles. Nous l’avons immédiatement invité à se joindre à l’équipe de direction de Serve The City. Shahram est devenu le premier réfugié à rejoindre notre équipe depuis le début du chapitre il y a 9 ans.
What can we do to help Shahram?
Shahram has been living in government housing since arriving in Paris. In late January, Shahram received notice that his case to receive Asylum in France was rejected for a second time. When an Asylum Seeker is rejected a second time, the government cannot provide further government housing and the asylum seeker must abandon the apartment within 1 month. Shahram is attempting to appeal to the French government and the volunteers at Serve the City Paris are all signing a petition to help Shahram with his appeal. This appeal will take time and there are legal fees involved throughout this process.
Serve the City is doing everything we can to help support Shahram, including finding him an apartment to live. We asking our friends to consider providing shelter for Shahram, or donating to help Shahram pay for rent for a small room, somewhere outside Paris.
If you cannot provide a room for Shahram, please consider a donation. Our goal is to help Shahram fundraise a minimum of 5,000 Euros in donations, which will provide him at least 8 months of rent. Serve the City Paris is willing to help pay for Shahram’s rent, his legal fees and food during this period. We need the support of others to ensure Shahram can live in France during his appeal process.

Que pouvons-nous faire pour aider Shahram?
Shahram vit dans un logement public depuis son arrivée à Paris. Fin janvier, Shahram a été informé que sa demande d’asile en France avait été rejetée une deuxième fois. Lorsqu’un demandeur d’asile est rejeté une deuxième fois, le gouvernement ne peut plus fournir de logement gouvernemental et le demandeur d’asile doit abandonner l’appartement dans un délai d’un mois. Shahram tente de faire appel au gouvernement français et les volontaires de Serve the City Paris signent tous une pétition pour aider Shahram dans son appel. Cet appel prendra du temps et des frais juridiques sont impliqués tout au long de ce processus.
Serve the City fait tout ce qui est en son pouvoir pour aider Shahram, notamment en lui trouvant un appartement où vivre. Nous demandons à nos amis d’envisager de fournir un abri à Shahram, ou de faire un don pour aider Shahram à payer le loyer d’une petite chambre, quelque part en dehors de Paris.
Si vous ne pouvez pas fournir une chambre pour Shahram, veuillez considérer un don. Notre objectif est d’aider Shahram à collecter un minimum de 5,000 euros de dons, ce qui lui procurera au moins 8 mois de loyer.
