Eid is an Arabic concept signifying a moment of happiness. It can be a birthday (“عید المیلاد Eid el milad”), a nation’s founding anniversary (“عيد الوطني” “Eid el watani”), Nowruz, the first day of spring/solar year in the Persian calendar, Easter, or the first day of the lunar month in the Islamic calendar after Ramadan, Shawwal.
A significant number of STCP beneficiaries observe Eid. On Friday, April 12th, STCP’s partner, Vatandar Association, celebrated Eid in Paris, attracting over 300 participants, including Afghan families, French citizens, and others interested in cultural events. The event featured Afghan traditional songs, dances, and dinner.
Members of STCP leadership, along with 10 STCP interns, SAVE members, and volunteers, participated in organizing the event. Additionally, STCP donated 20 tickets to beneficiaries from Afghanistan, Nigeria, Peru, Sudan, Guinea, Iran, Russia, Pakistan, and Colombia, enabling them to attend and partake in the festivities while experiencing a new culture.
STCP endeavors to encourage its interns, SAVE members, and volunteers to engage in such cultural events to gain insight into new cultures, collaborate within diverse communities, and share joyful moments with others. Simultaneously, STCP aims to provide moments of joy for its beneficiaries, many of whom are isolated in France.
